Veteran rock band The Who are to play their first UK tour in six years this summer, which will see them perform with a full orchestra in eight cities.

Promoted by Rob Hallett’s Robomagic Live, which was acquired by US promoter Outback Presents in May last year, the tour will travel to Hull, Edinburgh, London, Derby, Badminton, Durham, St Helens and Brighton.

Joining the band will be UB40 featuring Ali Campbell across all shows except for London’s O2 Arena (cap. 20,000) and Edinburgh Castle dates. The tour, which takes place from 6-23 July, will mark the band’s return to the Scottish capital for the first time in more than 40 years.

The run will also include shows at cricket grounds in Derby, the band’s first show in the city since 1966, Durham and Brighton.

The Who’s tour will involve the following venues:

  • 6 July – Sewell Group Craven Park, Hull
  • 8 July – Edinburgh Castle, Edinburgh
  • 9 July – Edinburgh Castle, Edinburgh
  • 12 July – The O2, London
  • 14 July – The Incora County Ground, Derby
  • 16 July – Badminton Estate, Bristol
  • 19 July – Seat Unique Riverside, Durham
  • 21 July – Totally Wicked Stadium, St Helens
  • 23 July – The 1st Central County Ground, Brighton
