Hawthorn will organise this year’s Hay Festival, its 27th incarnation, this year after winning the the festival’s technical production contract.
 
Hawthorn will be responsible for lighting, sound, AV, staging, draping and power throughout the 40,000sqm site. The company will also provide nine performance spaces, a bookshop, cafes, restaurants, administration areas and architectural night lighting.
 
“It’s wonderful to be involved once again with the Hay Festival, a personal highlight of the year,” said Hawthorn’s managing director Martin Hawthorn.
 
The arts, literary and science festival attracted 255,000 attendees last year. Running from 22 May – 1 June this year, Hay Festival has already confirmed that Claire Fisher, Judi Dench, Jenny Agutuer, Steve Googan, Richard Dawkins, Joan Bakewell, John Gurdon and Tim Hunt will be attending.
