Andrew Kennedy, director of Perton Signs has been appointed chair of the Event Supplier and Services Association (ESSA) board, as Nick Marshall, GES’ executive chairman steps down from the position.

The move also sees Simon Ridout, managing director of Dimension 8 become vice chair of the board.

Kennedy said: “Serving as the vice chair to Nick Marshall’s chair was a great privilege, and I hope my tenure will be as constructive and positive as Nick’s has been.

“The association has gone from strength to strength over the last seven years, and my belief is that ESSA and its sister associations serve a vital purpose, defending the industry from threats and ensuring its members are heard.

“As chair, my emphasis will be on further encouraging links and collaboration between ESSA members and strengthening the esprit de corps that already exists. I also want to build on the work ESSA has already done, pushing for greater representation at legislative and regulatory levels.”

Andrew Harrison, ESSA director, welcomed the new chair and vice chair to their posts: “Andrew and Simon are both seasoned professionals who are well aware of the pressures and complexities of running businesses in the sector. I am confident that their combined expertise and understanding of the industry will be important assets as they steer the association into the future.”

The association recently announced it will be holding its 2015 AGM at ArenaMK in Milton Keynes on 30 April.
