Event production company 11th Hour has secured a four-year contract providing the Christmas ice rink, power and staffing to Leicester’s Jubilee Square.

The contracts will start from the festive season for 2019.

Leicester City Council created the contract with 11th Hour. The production company will provide a 40m ice trail in addition to the 40m x 17m main rink to Jubilee Square.

11th Hour’s business development manager, Jason Venables, said: “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Leicester City Council for the Jubilee Square Christmas entertainment.

“Providing ice rinks is one of our specialties as an event production company and with the addition of Leicester we’ll be providing seven rinks across the UK for the 2019 festive season”

11th Hour had to navigate uneven ground, lampposts and permanent furniture in the Square in order to create the ice rink.

City Council officer, Peter Soulsby, said: “The real ice rink is back again, but this time there will be a new outdoor section for skaters to enjoy – so it’s bigger and better for 2019.

“I hope that people will enjoy everything the city has to offer this Christmas, whether they’re skating on ice, shopping for gifts, having a meal, watching a show or simply enjoying Leicester’s fabulous Christmas lights.”
