It has been announced today that Sunderland AFC (SAFC) have signed a new four-year partnership with national food service company, Bidvest 3663.

Many will not be surprised to hear the news, given that Bidvest 3663 are part of the BFS Group, a principle partner and short sponsor of the club, but with their glowing reputation for supplying an exceptional range of foods, beverages and wines to thousands of clients across the UK, why would SAFC change a good thing?

SAFC’s commercial director Gary Hutchinson, said: “Bidvest 3663 are a market leader in their field and offer a proven quality solution to all of our catering needs. As part of the Bidvest family we already have a synergy with them and as the club’s innovative approach to catering and events continues to grow we are looking forward to further developing what is already a great partnership.”

1879 Events Management operates the brasserie at Sunderland’s National Glass Centre and manages the catering operations for a range of major events, including Northern Pride. There are also plans to open a new seafront café and bistro on The Beach House, which will be located within the new Pier Point development on Marine Walk.

Bidvest 3663 will continue to work alongside 1879 Events Management and Sunderland AFC’s experienced catering team to generate food product supply, work on menu development and provide catering equipment.

The Stadium of Light caters for hundreds of thousands of customers each year, both on matchdays and through major music concerts, conferences and large-scale events such as the University of Sunderland graduation ceremonies.

Norman Wemyss, Managing Director of Bidvest 3663 North, said: “Working with a partner who operates within such an exciting, dynamic, diverse and extremely rewarding environment such as top flight football, is a challenge that Bidvest 3663 love to embrace.

“The dynamic team at Sunderland AFC always apply incredible effort, demonstrate fantastic innovation, but most of all a willingness to return on a true partnership.  This is at the forefront of everything they do with Bidvest 3663 and equally it’s at the forefront of our mind in everything that we do with or for them.  We look forward to another four years of working with everyone at Sunderland AFC.”
