Summer Live, the festival of music, comedy and family entertainment being held in Glow, Bluewater, has recorded a successful opening weekend.

Marking the debut of live entertainment at the venue, the upper hall was transformed into a 2,700-seat arena to host live performances over 17 days.

Launching the festival on July 26 was the Glow Comedy Roadshow, with comedians including Richard Herring, Lucy Porter and The Boy with Tape on his Face. This was followed on July 28 by children’s show Justin Live.

“This has been a very positive start to Summer Live at Glow, with Justin Live a sell-out,” venue director Michael Watton said. “As significant as the entertainment on offer, however, has been the ‘wow’ factor experienced by visitors in seeing Glow’s transformation into an arena. Throughout the weekend, feedback from visitors has been incredibly positive, both in person and via social media.

“This is the beginning of a very exciting chapter for Glow, and we have received a number of enquiries from promoters.”

Summer Live runs until August 11 with highlights including performances by The Saturdays and West End Anthems.

In a first for the venue, Glow signed an exclusive deal with Ticketmaster.
