Summer in the City, the UK’s largest and longest-running online video festival has announced the business rebrand to ‘Social in the City’.

The new change in name includes both the Summer and Winter Editions of the festival, now unifying under one brand.

Having just completed its 11th year, the festival is aimed at young creators, viewers, industry professionals and anyone with an interest in the online community. The show offers rare insights into Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and other social media platforms.

The new name is an indication of the festival’s commitment to develop the show in line with the constantly evolving online world and to reinforce the brand’s core aims as being inclusive to all. As part of the rebrand, the festival now features a new tagline, Social in the City: ‘Where Social Media Comes Alive’.

In addition to the new name, the festival now has a new logo, which stays true to the shows grass roots as an event, while clarifying what’s on offer.

Founder and director of the festival, Tom Burns, commented: “We wanted to make the brand synonymous with the online and video world and feel the new rebrand definitely achieves this. We decided to use the word ‘Social’ within the rebrand as it’s really what the online community embodies and is exactly what the show is all about.

“It felt like the perfect fit for us and also enables us to have a unified brand between our shows, which is very important as we continue to expand. We want new fans to discover the festival and to be able to instantly recognise what it stands for and what’s on offer, while giving more sense of belonging to creators across a variety of online platforms

“We’re really excited for this new chapter as we enter our 12th year and look forward to seeing how the fans and creators react to our new name and look.”

Since the festival first launched in 2009 as an event exclusively for YouTube creators and the YouTube community, the online industry has expanded across multiple platforms. The show has evolved over the years, with the most recent show diversifying the line-up to feature many top Twitch, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok social media creators and influencers as well as YouTube personalities.

The show aims to immerse attendees in the world of the internet and teach them everything they need to know about standing out online through a range of discussion panels, workshops and live performances. The Summer festival (and the upcoming Winter Edition) will have packed schedule of activities and events including; the huge Main Stage, Gaming Stage, Fashion & Beauty Stage and Lifestyle Stage.

The show also offers meet and greets with social media creators, influencers, creator merchandise stalls and a main stage offering live music.

Moving forward, championing the UK’s creator/influencer industry remains the festival’s main priority. With the festival evolving every year throughout its history to incorporate more programming across multiple platforms, Social in the City will continue to include as many creators and platforms as possible. The show also aims toadd more creator and educational elements, inspiring a new generation of creators and communities.

Social in the City (Winter Edition) will take place at the NEC, Birmingham, from 30 November to 1 December 2019.
