World land speed record holder from 1983 to 1997, Richard Noble OBE, pictured, will cut the ribbon to open IMHX 2013, the logistics exhibition and trade fair, which runs from 19 to 22 March at Birmingham’s NEC.

Noble will also hold a press conference in front of his latest record-attempting vehicle, Bloodhound SSC (SuperSonic Car), on display in the show’s Skills & Apprenticeships Zone.

This year, with current record holder Andy Green at the wheel, the vehicle will attempt not only to better his 763mph, but to pass the 1,000mph mark. About the speed Royal Air Force fighter pilot Green travels in his day job.
