Crystal Palace Overground Festival, which took a year off in 2016, is set to return ‘bigger and better’ to a new site.

The festival, which began as a free local event in 2006, grew into a festival attended by more than 6,000 people.

The event will move from Westow Park to Crystal Palace Park in 2017 to accomodate the growing audience.

“We are very excited to announce the move of our main park event to the much bigger Crystal Palace Park,” said Noreen Meehan, festival director and chair of the Crystal Palace festival board.

“The move to Crystal Palace Park will enable us to deliver much more for the growing number of festival goers that join us from across south London, and beyond.”

The main event will take place at Crystal Palace Park on 17 June, with fringe community events taking place from Monday 12 June to Sunday 18 June.

Organsiers are optimistic abut the future, commenting that “the possibilities of growing the event in the future, whilst keeping volunteers and the local community at the heart of all we do”.
