Music tech start-up Brapp has partnered with Boom Bap festival, which is using the start-up’s social network and music app as a talent-scouting tool.

The app developed by Brapp functions as a pocket-sized music studio and social network, connecting vocalists, rappers and producers from across the globe.

Organisers of Boom Bap will be utilising the app to source the line-up for the festival, including for high profile spots on the main stage.

Pavan Muki, creative director of Brapp, commented: “We are delighted to be partnering with Boom Bap – we’re big fans of the festival and how they are supporting emerging UK talent and representing the hip hop genre which is not at the forefront of industry focus at the moment.

“The partnership with Boom Bap, for Brapp represents the first in many partnerships we plan to announce this year, showcasing Brapp’s significance as an A&R resource for the music industry. Labels are already paying attention with producers and artists using Brapp in over 80 countries, to look for musicians to collaborate with, but Brapp is also great resource for live event producers, as we have some many amazing emerging artists using the app.”

The app allows users to create one-minute musical and vocal performances over the top of beats submitted by the thousands of producers using the app.

Ivan Andrade of Boom Bap Festival added: “Digging to find the freshest talent in a scene as crowded as ours can be tough, but Brapp makes it easier on promoters like us. It’s testament to the calibre of the performers Brapp attracts that we’ve been able to book three artists for our main stage just from a simple call-out. And it’s also nice to know that all of our attendees have a chance to put themselves forward, given that the platform is so simple and easy-to-use.”

Boom Bap Festival takes place on 29-31 July at Mildenhall in Suffolk.
