Moving Venue’s catering arm will be setting up camp at Blackheath Common this Sunday to provide energy-boosting supplies for some 2,000 cyclists taking part in Help for Heroes’ first annual ‘Hero Ride’.
Participants in the ‘Big Battlefield Bike Ride’, which takes in the battlefields of Northern France, will be joined at Blackheath by 250 ‘Dawn Raid’ riders journeying from Tedworth House in Wiltshire and 900 others from locations all over the UK.
One hundred wounded servicemen, women and veterans will lead the concluding leg into Central London, which organisers hope will raise more than £2m to benefit Help for Heroes.
“[Providing] for the Hero Ride gives us a fantastic chance to support fundraising for a very worthy charity and to get involved in our community sporting events, an area of business we are strongly developing at the moment,” Matthew Quarendon, director of Outdoor Catering at Moving Venue, said.
“We have a number of keen cyclists among our ranks, so will be donning our lycra as well as our chef’s whites for the day!”
Hero Ride is open to cyclists of all ages and abilities, whether you want to ride 10 miles from Clapham or 100 miles from Coventry. For more information, or to enter a team, please visit www.heroride.org.uk
