Liz Agostini is to lead the fast expanding Events Division at meetings and events industry publishing company Mash Media.
The division includes leading trade shows International Confex and The Event Production Show.
Agostini becomes event director of both shows, which will co-locate in 2015. She will also head a new division responsible for an array of specialist events and forums catering for the UK’s £39.1bn meetings and events sector.
“I am hugely excited at the prospect of building on the very strong foundations of our inaugural Confex,” said Agostini, who has project managed countless products in a career that started at VNU in the 1980s.
Since being full time at Mash Media, in just three years, she has successfully relaunched the international titles, including Conference & Meetings World and Exhibition World and propelled the Exhibition News Awards to become a blockbuster event.
“International Confex 2014 gained an overwhelmingly positive response with plaudits around its rejuvenation and the fact that Mash had placed it firmly back centre-stage, much of this was due to the way Mash Media operates and the fact that every single employee of Mash contributed in some part,” Agostini added.
Agostini takes on the new role, effective in June, as outgoing Confex event director Donna Bushell moves on to new challenges.
“I am extremely proud to have helped put Confex firmly back on the map and led the Mash effort to give the show a solid platform to take it forwards at Olympia London in 2015. I wish the new team well and know the show is in very capable hands,” said Bushell.
Agostini added: “I am looking forward to ramping up to the next level with this great team behind me and returning Confex to its position alongside IMEX and EIBTM as a must-attend in the international MICE calendar.”
International Confex was acquired from UBM by Mash Media and the first edition under the new ownership ran earlier this year at Olympia London.
International Confex 2015 takes place again at Olympia London on 18-19 February, 2015.
