Max SteventonThe Eurovision Song Contest will expand to Asia for the first time, confirmed by the contest’s organisers the European Broadcast Union (EBU).
The inaugural Eurovision Song Contest Asia is scheduled to take place in Bangkok on 14 November 2026.
Broadcasters from 10 Asian countries are confirmed to participate. Confirmed participants include Bangladesh’s NTV, Bhutan Broadcasting Service (BBS), Cambodia’s TV5 Cambodia, Laos’ Vientiane Capital Television (VTE9) and Malaysia’s Media Prima (TV3), among others.
Thailand’s Channel 3 will serve as the host broadcaster and will organise the event alongside the EBU, Voxovation, and S2O Productions.
Eurovision’s expansion into Asia follows the cancellation of the originally planned Eurovision Live Tour, which had been intended to mark the contest’s 70th anniversary. The flagship Eurovision final will take place on 16 May in Vienna.
“As we mark the 70th anniversary of the Eurovision Song Contest, it feels especially meaningful to open this next chapter with Asia, a region rich in culture, creativity and talent,” Eurovision Song Contest director Martin Green CBE said. “This is about evolving Eurovision together with Asia, building something that reflects the voices, identities and ambitions of the region, while staying true to what has always made the Contest special.”
