Donington Park’s Download Festival won the gong for Best Major Festival at the 10th annual UK Festival Awards 2013 last night (2 December) at The Roundhouse in London.

Arctic Monkeys also scooped this year’s Best Headline Performance for their headline set at Glastonbury, seeing off stern competition from industry heavyweights including The Rolling Stones and Elton John.

Meanwhile, Shambala Festival won the overall Greener Festival Award, which recognises the most envriomentally aware festival.

Over 575,000 votes were cast in total by fans from across the world. A number of the awards were also decided by an expert panel of judges. 

“In this, our 10th year, we had the most fiercely fought competition for the awards,” said MD of the UK Festival Awards James Drury.

“Congratulations to all those which made it into the finals – it’s no mean feat to make it into the top 10, considering over 340 festivals entered this year.”
