The charitable arm of the backstage skills training centre in Wakefield is offering scholarships for its foundation degree (FdA) in live events production and its Ready for Work programme.

The two-year degree course puts an emphasis on practical experience and industry-specific training across a range of disciplines, such as lighting, live sound, staging, concept design & presentation, with more than three months of work placement.

Backstage Academy CIC has funding to pay for full and part scholarships for one or more students to take the live events production FdA this year.

The academy will also pay for six places on its Ready for Work initiative, combining a diverse range of short courses tailored around the essential skills needed to work backstage on all types of live events.

Successful applicants will take seven different modules over a period of three weeks and, if a satisfactory level of commitment is shown throughout, will go on to do a week’s work experience.
