Academy Music Group (AMG), owners of 12 O2 Academy venues, as well as London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire and Glasgow’s O2 ABC, has won recognition from Attitude is Everything for its continued support for deaf and disabled patrons accessing live music and events.

In 2006, AMG signed up to Attitude is Everything’s Charter of Best Practice, which encourages venues and promoters to publicly show their commitment to improved access.

Attitude is Everything has provided advice and training for AMG venues to achieve action plans for improvements and awareness for staff, as well as a comprehensive online resource, unique to each venue based on its size, age and limitations; ranging from accessible toilets, booking policy, priority entrance, signage, companion tickets, viewing areas, among other key points.

“Working in partnership has been the key to the success of this project and I’m proud of the way in which AMG has embraced the Charter as well as the professional expertise from our team and the personal feedback from our Mystery Shopper,” Suzanne Bull MBE, chief executive officer at AIE, said.

“I’m particularly delighted because I used O2 Academy Brixton as my ‘pilot’ venue when I was developing our Disability Equality Training sessions, which are bespoke to the music industry, and when Attitude is Everything first began.”
