Max SteventonAcademy Music Group (AMG) has completed a major refurbishment of O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire (cap. 2,000).
The work carried out this summer at the Grade II listed venue includes a new d&b Audiotechnik audio system, upgraded house lighting and the refurbishment of the Level 1 balcony.
AMG partnered with Liverpool-based production specialist Adlib to deliver the audio and lighting upgrades, while seating company Kirwin & Simpson oversaw the balcony refurbishment.
Lighting upgrades include rider-friendly fixtures and a new power distribution system to support touring productions.
The new audio system, designed to improve sound clarity, was described by AMG chief executive Liam Boylan as “essential” and said it will give touring artists “the very best sonic experience.”
With the venue being over 120 years old, Adlib installation project manager Rob Crossland said the upgrades will maintain the character and heritage of the London venue.
AMG said the project forms part of an ongoing programme of technical and structural investment across its UK venues. It recently reopened Cardiff’s National Concert Hall.
