Organisers of Belgian music festival Tomorrowland have outlined plans to stage an ‘immersive’ show in Shanghai.
Tomorrowland said its The Magic of Tomorrowland event marks the start of a long-term partnership between its artist agency One World Artists and INS Land, with the shared goal of introducing Chinese artists to global stages while introducing Tomorrowland’s international talent to China’s music scene.
The latest move in its onging international expansion, The Magic of Tomorrowland is the festival operator’s first indoor music show and its inaugural event in China. Produced in partnership by Tomorrowland, Hero Esports, INS Land and Budweiser, The Magic of Tomorrowland will take place on 22 November at he 5,000-capacity Hero Dome venue.
Part of Hero Group, INS’s flagship entertainment complex, INS Land is located in Shanghai Fuxing Park. Spanning seven stories and more than 20,000 square meters, it consists of 20 interconnected venues including clubs, restaurants, and live performance spaces.
Over the two decades since the Tomorrowland festival debuted at De Schorre park in Boom, Belgium, Tomorrowland has been grown into a global entertainment company active in countries including Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Dubai and the US.
Tomorrowland said the Shanghai event will mix global headliners with rising Chinese talent, and that the immersive production will involve cutting-edge visuals and sensory storytelling.
The Belgian festival, which regularly attracts around 400,000 people from more than 200 countries, is set to take place over the weekends of 18-20 July and 25-27 July, with around 600 artists performing across 16 stages. It will feature headliners including Armin van Buuren, Charlotte De Witte, Martin Garrix, Swedish House Mafia and David Guetta.
