Taylor Swift has closed her 21-month-long Eras Tour with three shows at Vancouver’s BC Place Stadium bringing the curtain down on an international venture that grossed a record $2.077 billion (£1.63bn) in ticket sales, according to The New York Times.

The huge box office result puts the 149-date Eras Tour well ahead of other major tours including Coldplay’s ongoing 156-date Music of the Spheres World Tour, which has reportedly generated more than $1bn.

The enormity of Swift’s tour, which was attended by 10,168,008 people, resulted in a huge economic contribution to every city it involved, not least London where her eight summer shows at Wembley Stadium (cap. 90,000) boosted the capital’s economy by an estimated £300 million, according to Mayor of London office using UKInbound’s Tourism Statistics.

London hosted more dates of Taylor Swift’s tour than any other city in the world, with more than 750,000 people attending the Wembley Stadium (pictured) shows. With her eight dates at Wembley, Swift equalled a record set by Take That who played the venue for eight dates on their 2011 Progress tour.
