Christopher BarrettToday, 25 June, has seen the hottest June temperature recorded for a second day in a row as London Stadium prepares to welcome 80,000 Take That fans for the first of three consecutive shows.
With other huge outdoor shows and festivals planned in the coming days, including Harry Styles at Wembley Stadium, heat wave mitigation measures are being taken by venues and promoters while updated advice is being issued for all attendees.
The Take That concerts, part of the band’s Circus Live 2026 tour, will see a series of measures put in place at the stadium to help keep attendees safe and comfortable, including the price of bottled water being cut by half.
A spokesperson for the venue said, “We’ve increased the number of free drinking water points both inside and outside the stadium, with additional units across key areas. Cups will be available, and for these events we’re allowing reusable water containers and plastic bottles with lids – no glass or cans. We’re also reducing the price of bottled water by 50% across concessions and hospitality to make it as easy as possible for people to stay hydrated.
“We have experienced medical cover on site and staff have been well briefed on how to support our visitors. For those arriving early, there are shaded areas available in the surrounding park. We also have lots of shaded areas inside and outside of the venue, with our unique bridge island set-up giving customers room to move around and rest from the sun.
“We’re also encouraging everyone to come prepared for the conditions; wearing suitable clothing, using sun protection and bringing water where possible.”
At Wembley Stadium (cap. 90,000), which is mid-way through a record-breaking 12-date run by Harry Styles, guests at shows this week have been told they can carry metal or hard plastic water bottles into the stadium. The bottles can then be filled at free water fountains available on all levels of the stadium and the pitch area. The price of bottled water sold across all bars has also been cut by 50% at the West London venue.
