Independent creative agency People and Star Live are celebrating the successful debut of a new fan experience offering at BMX competition Red Bull Featured.

The event, launched at Manchester Central by Red Bull alongside BMX star Sebastian ‘Bas’ Keep, saw People appointed to deliver the creative, production, event operations, structural design and build, as well as special effects, lighting and audio.

As part of the contract, People’s creative team developed the new concept featuring a three-storey viewing platform ‘The Wall’, inside the Manchester venue. The nine-metre-high BMX ramp sat adjacent to three levels of viewing space, providing fans with a more exhilarating, up-close experience. Alongside the action, People also built three dramatic entrance tunnels, one of which led fans through the centre of the bespoke three-storey viewing platform.

Star Live worked with People, supplying its Starlok based structure featuring integrated stair wells and cantilevered galleries for DJ’s and judges, respectively. High-impact lighting, and full-surface branding was added.

People partrner Rory O’Donovan said, “Red Bull produces some of the world’s most distinctive and dramatic  sports events, providing fans with unforgettable experiences. At People, we always want to push the boundaries of what a space can do – so it’s been a privilege working with a pioneering team at Red Bull, to create the right environment for such an exciting sporting spectacle.”

This month’s event in Manchester was the second project delivered by People for Red Bull, with it having been appointed to design and build Red Bull’s Soapbox racecourse last summer at Alexandra Palace, London.
