Production Services Association (PSA), a trade association for live event professionals, has renamed its Training Bursary Scheme the Dave Keighley Bursary in honour of its former chairman.
Keighley, who passed away earlier this year, was one of PSA’s founding members and was chairman from 2020 to 2024 before stepped down due to ill health. PSA said the renaming recognises his “extraordinary contributions” to the live production sector.
The bursary scheme was launched in January in collaboration with Precision Broking Ltd and AXA Insurance, with the aim of addressing skills shortages within the industry by providing training costs.
PSA co-chair Liz Madden said, “Renaming our training bursary scheme to honour Dave is a fitting tribute to someone who dedicated his career to advancing our industry. Dave understood that investing in people and their skills was essential for the future of live production. This bursary will continue his legacy of nurturing talent and ensuring the next generation has access to the training they need to excel.”
Keighley was instrumental in forming the PSA in the late 1980s. He spent much of his career working in the field of lighting, design and production, and led a number of companies including LSD, PRH Europe, Syncrolite LLC, SGM Lighting and PRG Europe.
During his five-decade career, he held a variety of roles including lighting technician, lighting designer, stage manager, production manager, technical director and show director of live events encompassing music, sport, fashion, major industry conferences and corporate shows.
