The Power of Events (POE) has expanded its UK Schools Engagement Programme with the launch of a North West Hub, spanning Liverpool, Cheshire and Manchester.
In a statement, the not-for-profit events industry body said the initiative will help provide thousands of young people with career pathways into the industry. POE has enabled ambassador registration on its Schools Engagement Programme portal, with industry professionals in the region invited to sign up and support the next generation of talent by volunteering as little as an hour to the initiative.
POE said the first wave of school engagements will begin in early May across the region, with the goal of reaching 30,000 young people in the first year. The programme is supported by sponsors from across the North West, including ACC Liverpool, Adlib, AO Arena (pictured), Clarity BT, Co-op Live, Aviva Studios and Production Futures.
Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham said, “The events industry is a vital part of our region’s economy, culture, and identity. The launch of the North West Hub for The Power of Events Schools Engagement Programme is an exciting step in connecting young people with the wealth of opportunities in this dynamic sector. By inspiring the next generation, we are ensuring that Greater Manchester continues to lead the way in events and live experiences.”
Programme lead for Schools Engagement Programme Sophie Beasor added, “The launch of the North West Hub marks a significant step in our mission to engage and inspire young people across the UK about the diverse opportunities within the events industry. With the incredible support of our ambassadors and sponsors, we look forward to making a lasting impact across Liverpool, Cheshire, and Manchester.”
