New London venue Ironworks to open in October

London Warehouse Events (LWE) has partnered with placemaking group PROJEKT to open a 7,000-capacity temporary London venue.

Located at Thames Wharf, Ironworks is set to open with a limited run of events in October. It will comprise of more than 80,000 sq ft of external riverside space alongside 78,000 sq ft of internal warehouse space. It will also feature an open-air terrace overlooking the Thames.

LWE, an arm of electronic music event promoter AMAAD, said the temporary venue will provide a high-impact environment for electronic music events within a raw industrial setting.

The October run of electronic music events will be accompanied by activity across the wider site, including markets, wellness sessions, outdoor cinema and street food offerings.

LWE said the venue, which is set to reopen again next year for event series in May and October, will feature “cutting-edge sound, lighting and visual production”, while emphasising the character and history of the site.

“AMAAD has a long history of bringing unloved buildings back to life as vital parts of London’s cultural fabric. Great Suffolk Street Warehouse, Tobacco Dock and Printworks each became significant landmarks in the city’s music and night-time cultural landscape and we’re determined that Ironworks will be no different,” said LWE director Will Harold.

“We want this to be a space that reflects the full breadth of London’s creative community; live music, club culture, and cultural programming that goes beyond the expected.”
