FORWARDS Festival (cap. 60,000) in Bristol, promoted by Team Love and AEG, is to welcome back assistive technology firm GiveVision to enhance accessibility for visually impaired fans.

Building on its 2023 trial, GiveVision, in partnership with Accessible Events, will once again offer visually impaired attendees the chance to experience live performances through their low-vision headsets.

The technology allows fans with varying degrees of sight loss to enjoy performances by headliners such as Loyle Carner, Four Tet, and LCD Soundsystem with enhanced visual clarity.

GiveVision head of operations Joanna Liddington said, “Following the successful trial, we’re extending that inclusion further this year, which is magical. Festivals should be inclusive for all, providing equal opportunities no matter who you are.”

The significance of this initiative is underscored by the fact that over 2 million people in the UK live with sight loss. GiveVision reinvests at least 51% of its profits into the development of assistive technologies and works closely with the sight loss community to continually improve their solutions. Its headsets were recently used at the Paris Olympics and a Massive Attack concert in Bristol.
