Cornwall’s Rock Oyster Festival has not only reached its £300,000 crowdfunding target but is now overfunding with just four days remaining until the campaign closes at midnight on 3 September.

The feat comes on the heels of the festival’s recent licence approval, which allows it to expand its capacity from 10,000 to 15,000 attendees.

The crowdfunding campaign, which launched to support the festival’s expansion, highlighted Rock Oyster’s 128% revenue growth over the past three years. Funds raised are set to enhance the festival’s offerings, including the development of alternative accommodation options such as campsites and glamping in the “over-subscribed” area of North Cornwall.

In a notable addition to the festival’s leadership team, baker and founder of The Bertinet Kitchen Cookery School, Richard Bertinet, has joined as both an investor and chief culinary officer.

“We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support from our investors and the community,” said Rock Oyster managing director Lee Bater. “This funding milestone allows us to enhance the festival experience, showcasing the best of Cornish food and music, and ensuring that Rock Oyster remains a highlight in Cornwall’s cultural calendar.”

Investors in the crowdfunding campaign have been offered exclusive rewards, including priority booking for experiences, private chef tables, guest passes, and behind-the-scenes tours.
