Silverstone will host more than 300 food and drink outlets across 2km of retail frontage at this year’s British Grand Prix as it prepares to host around 565,000 fans.

Event food and beverage specialist Freemans Event Partners (FEP) said it has worked to redefine the fan experience at the 2-5 July event by providing a range of service concepts designed to keep queues to a minimum and maximise time spent enjoying the event. They include self-serve bars and ‘Grab & Go’ retail to mobile ordering.

The scale of the operation is such that it will involve 53 HGV deliveries. The food offering will include gluten-free meals and meat-free dishes, which account for around one in five menu items. As well as the extensive food offering, there will be 200 metres of bar frontage.

The increase in the F&B offering is in line with the expansion of the event in recent years that has seen it transformed into a huge four-day music and motor racing festival. Among the acts due to perform over the weekend on the M&S Mainstage are David Guetta, Chase & Status, Richard Ashcroft and James Arthur.

CARGO Global Eats will return for a second year, featuring independent street food operators from across the UK such as Hawker Dan, Amani Persian Cuisine and Poppy’s Pineapples. The area will also include live music, DJs and cocktail bars.

Freemans Event Partners CEO Tara Warren said, “The British Grand Prix perfectly demonstrates how live events have evolved. Fans and visitors from across the world are coming together at one of the highest attended events in the world and they expect far more than world-class sport alone; they want a complete day out with exceptional food, memorable experiences and seamless service at every touchpoint.”

Last year, FEP signed a new multi-year contract to remain Silverstone’s exclusive food and beverage provider. Its services cover major events at the venue including the Formula 1 British Grand Prix, the Tissot British Grand Prix MotoGP and the Silverstone Festival.
