The events industry is being asked by the British Standards Institute (BSI) whether the ISO 20121 international standard for sustainable events management should be updated.

The ISO 20121 offers guidance and best practice to event operators with regard to their social, economic and environmental impact. The guidance was created to cover a vast array of events from “music festivals to school outings”. The standard covers every aspect of running a sustainable event, including leadership, planning, communications, supply chain management and measuring performance. Events and venues to have been ISO 20121 certified include the Commonwealth Games, Formula E and Wembley Stadium.

The BSI would like input from UK stakeholders on whether there is a need to revise the standard and, if so, what changes should made. The short survey is accessibly here.
