Adele’s 10 shows last month at her bespoke stadium constructed for the residency at the Messe in Riem Munich has broken a series of records.

Live Nation (LN) said the show series attracted 730,000 attendees, making it the highest attendance of any concert residency outside Las Vegas.

The pop-up stadium in Munich, designed by Florian Wieder, contained more than 73,000 seats and is understood to be the largest temporary arena ever built.

The show production featured an LED wall measuring 4159.7 m2, the largest of its kind yet built for a concert. The vast screen was created using ROE panels from Solotech and was designed by Stufish Entertainment Architects, who also designed the stage.

The adjacent Adele World saw more than 500,000 visitors across the 75,000 square meters space, which contained a selection of entertainment and catering offerings including a replica British pub. LN claims the set up was another first of its kind.

The Adele 10-night residency provided a €540 million boost to the Munich economy, according to Clemens Baumgärtner, the head of Munich’s economic department.

LN said the stadium, which was the brainchild of co-promoter Leutgeb Entertainment CEO Klaus Leutgeb, and the accompanying Adele World were built within four months, only to be dismantled again immediately after the last concert. The venue and show production was the result of more than a year of planning.

LN GSA MD Marek Lieberberg said “The flair of the unique Adele performances combined perfectly with the special atmosphere of this city. Her music, the fans and Munich came together in a way that is rarely experienced. It was trendsetting: the harmony of concerts in a never-before-seen visualization in an epic custom-built pop-up colosseum with perfect open-air sound, created for Adele fans. A joyful, cheerful and peaceful pre-Oktoberfest.

“I believe that something historic has been created here in our fast-moving age that will have a big impact for a long time to come.”
