Fatboy Slim, Robbie Williams and Kings of Leon will headline the Isle of Wight Festival.
On 17-20 June, organisers of the Live Nation-owned event will mark the 25th edition of the festival, since it was revived by promoter and Solo Agency MD John Giddings in 2002, with one of its strongest talent lineups.
The first incarnation of the Isle of Wight Festival took place in 1970 and was attended by a 17-year-old Giddings, along with nearly 600,000 other people, with performances by an array of acts including Jimi Hendrix, The Who, The Doors, Jethro Tull and Leonard Cohen. In 2002, Giddings worked with the local council on the first come-back event, which took place for one night with headline acts including Robert Plant and The Charlatans. John’s wife Caroline is the Isle of Wight Festival’s director.
On the 25th anniversary event next year she said, “Fatboy Slim, Robbie Williams and Kings of Leon each bring something different to the weekend. With Becky Hill, Bastille and Myles Smith also on the bill, there’s a real mix of artists for different generations and tastes, and there’s still more to come.
“We put a lot of thought into what happens beyond the main stages, too. The food, the entertainment and the spaces where people can spend time together are all part of what makes it a special weekend on the Island.”
John Giddings discusses his life and times with the Isle of Wiught Festrival in an episode of the Access All Areas Backstage podcast available on all platforms including YouTube, Spotify and Apple.
Weekend tickets for next year’s festival are priced £330.
