The Isle of Wight has been given a rare honour, with Creative Island (its cultural development agency) having been awarded the EFFE Seal by the European Festival Association for its success incorporating events into the island’s overall growth strategy and building a strong European identity.
The Isle of Wight Festival was awarded Best Large Festival at the UK Music Festival Awards in December.
The EFFE Seal celebrates regions dedicated to incorporating festivals and cultural events into their growth strategies, while fostering a strong European identity. The Isle of Wight is the 30th region to receive the Seal, and one of the only recipients in the UK.
Isle of Wight Festival boss John Giddings spoke of his gratitude for the EFFE Seal:. He said, “[It’s] an incredible moment for the island, and truly deserved. We’re proud of the part that our festival has played in getting this accolade.
“The EFFE Seal is testament to everything the Isle of Wight represents. We cherish working with such a vibrant and creative community each year”.
The Isle of Wight Festival 2025 is set to take place on 19-22 June with headline acts Sting, Stereophonics and Justin Timberlake taking to the stage.
John Giddings’ recent keynote interview at the AAA Conference & Awards will be released, as part of the Backstage podcast series, next week. The Isle of Wight festival celebrated its 25th edition last year.
