Christopher BarrettLIVE chair Steve Lamacq is among those whose contributions have been recognised in the latest New Year’s Honours list, which includes senior figures in the festival indusry.
LIVE (Live music Industry Venues & Entertainment), the umbrella trade body representing all corners of the UK’s live music industry, appointed broadcaster and DJ Steve Lamacq as its first chair in 2023.
Lamacq has been recognised with an MBE for services to broadcasting and to music venues.
A strong supporter of Independent Venue Week and the Music Venue Trust, Lamacq took on the role at LIVE after ending an 18-year run as a presenter for BBC Radio 6 Music. At the time, he said he had decided to steer his career in a new direction in an effort to promote, support and define the live music industry for generations to come.
The co-founder of the biennial Manchester International Festival (MIF) Christine Cort was recognised with an OBE for services to the arts and to culture.
Cort co-founded the event in 2004 with Alex Poots, previous to which she was group marketing director at Time Out. She left her role as MIF MD in 2022 to set up CC&Friends.
Outgoing chair of Hay Festival Global, Caroline Michel has been awarded OBE for services to publishing and literature. Hay Festival Global’s activity includes events in Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Nairobi, Ukraine, the US, and the UK including the Hay Festival (pictured) in Hay-on-Wye, Wales, that is attended by around 350,000 people each year.
