Tracy Halliwell, director of major events and business tourism at London & Partners, was named a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours this weekend.
 
She was awarded the honour for her contributions to boosting the UK events industry.
 
Halliwell has been responsible for driving business, cultural and sporting events to London. She also led the delivery of the London mayor’s hospitality programmes during the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.
 
The honour coincides with the start of London Technology Week (16-20 June), which Halliwell spearheaded along with organiser UBM and partners Excel London and Tech London Advocates.
 
Colleagues across the events industry congratulated Halliwell on her hounour.
 
“This accolade is well-deserved recognition of the commitment and energy Tracy is putting in to raising the profile of London as a world class business tourism destination and her contribution to the success of the sector throughout the UK,” said Michael Hirst, chairman of the Business Visits & Events Partnership (BVEP).
 
“Tracy is a proactive partner of the BVEP,” Hirst continued, “and has played a crucial role in the advancement of the industry. I’m sure I speak not just for everyone on the partnership but for anyone who knows or has worked with Tracy both in the UK and internationally – all who will be delighted for her and will wish to congratulate her on this well-deserved honour.”
