AEG-owned The O2 Arena (cap. 20,000) has been lit up pink in honour of K-pop superstars BLACKPINK performing two headline shows at the venue this week, on 30 November and 1 December.

The appearance of the white tent and ‘The O2’ entrance sign will be transformed to bright pink for the girl band’s first headline shows at the arena, as part of their [BORN PINK] tour.

South Korean quartet BLACKPINK will be returning to London in 2023 for their UK festival debut at AEG’s American Express presents BST Hyde Park (65,000) on 2 July.

The O2 Arena VP and general manager Steve Sayer said, “K-pop is taking the music industry by storm, and we’re proud to be connecting these unstoppable artists with their legions of fans in the UK. When AEG Presents, [promoter of BLACKPINK’s global tour] brought the idea to us we knew we had to make this unforgettable moment happen.”

This week’s gigs follows the cancellation of K-pop concert K-Flex, which was due to take place on 20 November at The O2. Promoted by Live Company Group and Seoul-based SG2, the event was axed at the beginning of November after a crowd crush occurred during Halloween festivities in Seoul, with at least 156 people killed and at least 172 others injured.
