The second edition of Plymouth’s Big Summer festival has been cancelled due to issues relating to the cost-of-living crisis.

The event, which launched last year, was set to take place on Plymouth Hoe from 25-26 August. Tickets had gone on sale but only the 26-piece Ibiza Orchestra Experience had been confirmed on the lineup.

The promoter said in a statement, “A perfect storm of rising costs, reduction in sponsorship income, an end of support for tourism and hospitality such as VAT reductions and an unprecedented strain on people’s disposable income have sadly left the event untenable for this year.

“We hope to return in the future and we thank you for an incredible event in 2022.”

Last year’s edition hosted artists such as the Ibiza Orchestra Experience, Basement Jaxx, Example and Years & Years. Organisers confirmed that all ticket holders for this year’s event will be refunded automatically within 21 days.
