Parklife Festival has allocated £155,000 to support community projects in areas surrounding Heaton Park – the festival’s Manchester home.

The funding is delivered through the Parklife Community Fund in partnership with Manchester, Bury and Rochdale councils.

Organisers of the Live Nation-owned festival said the fund, established in 2017, has contributed more than £449,000 to local initiatives.

This year’s allocation consists of £55,000 raised through guest-list donations at Parklife and £100,000 generated through other concerts and events held at Heaton Park. The councils will distribute the funding to projects involving young people, community facilities, parks and open spaces, and activities that support local participation.

The eligible areas for the Parklife Community Fund are Higher Blackley and Crumpsall in Manchester, Sedgley, Holyrood, St Mary’s in Bury and South Middleton in Rochdale.

An additional Heaton Park Stakeholder Group Micro Funding Pot, funded by Parklife, offers grants of up to £500 for stakeholder groups working in the park.

Councillor Alan Quinn, cabinet member for wnvironment, climate change and operations; ward councillor for Sedgley said, “This grant of £50,000 added to the Parklife money will help groups, societies and clubs in Prestwich to put on events next year. Events throughout the year such as Clough Day, Prestwich Carnival, Prestwich Arts Festival, Prestwich Pride, Prestwich Together and Prestwich Remembers contribute to the sense of community in the town.”
