Max SteventonHeritage Live has cancelled its 2026 summer festival programme at Englefield Estate, Audley End Estate and Sandringham Estate after efforts to secure additional investment were unsuccessful.
Among the artists due to play at Heritage Live shows this summer were Christina Aguilera and Janet Jackson, who were both due to play UK-exclusive shows at Sandringham next month.
In a statement, the independent UK promoter said it had been seeking an investment and equity package to support its operations but confirmed that negotiations ended without an agreement, leaving the company unable to proceed with the events.
The company cited a combination of rising operating costs, lower ticket sales and increased competition within the live events sector as the reasons behind the decision.
According to Heritage Live, supplier, artist and staffing costs have increased in recent years, while demand for some shows has fallen below expectations amid wider economic pressures. The promoter said these factors made it financially unviable to stage this year’s programme while meeting its obligations to suppliers, artists and production crews.
Giles Cooper, the promoter and CEO of Heritage Live, was awarded an OBE in the King’s Birthday Honours List in 2024 for services for entertainment and charity. His GCE Live operation has promoted shows by acts including Robbie Williams, The Who, Noel Gallagher, Kris Kristofferson, Sir Tom Jones, Sir Van Morrison, Madness, Jose Carreras, Soft Cell, Hozier and The Jacksons,
Heritage Live said in the statement, “Thank you so much to everyone who has supported and enjoyed our events over the past 10 years. Whilst this is devastating news, we hope that in time you’re able to look back with fond memories to those happier days; we’ve had so many awesome and magical moments over the years and hope they remain in your hearts forever.”
