Christopher BarrettFamilies of two attendees of the Astroworld festival in Texas, who died at the 5 November 2021 event, have reportedly settled their lawsuits against it promoters Live Nation and Scoremore.
Axel Acosta, 21, and Brianna Rodriguez, 16, were among 10 people killed at the Houston show following a crowd surge during headliner Travis Scott’s performance.
The incident, which left hundreds injured, led to 387 separate lawsuits representing nearly 2,800 alleged victims against the promoters. In January, the lawsuits were consolidated. Collectively they are seeking billions of dollars in damages from Live Nation.
One of the lawyers involved, Tony Buzbee, issued a statement explaining that his client, Acosta’s family, has settled their lawsuit.
He said, “The claims brought by the family of Axel Acosta against Travis Scott, Live Nation and others involved in the Astroworld tragedy have settled. Acosta was a beloved son, brother, and student. He was kind and loving. He is greatly missed. Please keep his family in your prayers”.
Houston’s ABC13 reported that Rodriguez’s family have also settled. Terms of the settlements are not yet known.
