Mighty Hoopla Malta 2026 has been cancelled, with organisers citing growing disruption across the airline industry and concerns over rising travel costs.

The festival said airlines operating routes to Malta warned that fewer flights would be scheduled this summer, while fares were also expected to increase significantly leaving organisers in what they described as a “very different position” from when the event was first launched.

Mighty Hoopla events in London’ (pictured) and Sydney are going ahead as planned this year. Superstruct Entertainment operate the festival brand after buying a majority stake in 2023.

Despite plans for an expanded second edition following its 2025 debut, Mighty Hoopla Malta said all ticket holders who booked directly through the festival will receive automatic refunds. Organisers also confirmed they intend to offer compensation options for fans who separately booked travel and accommodation.

The cancellation follows wider challenges facing parts of Europe’s live events sector ahead of the 2026 summer season. In the Netherlands, Music On festival in Amsterdam was cancelled just hours before it was due to start, with the local authority having revoked the event’s license due to safety concerns linked to temporary structures on site.
