Glastonbury festival has announced that Elton John will headline its Pyramid Stage on Sunday night, for what will be the final UK show of his last-ever tour.

Glastonbury co-organiser Emily Eavis said, “This will be the final UK show of Elton’s last ever tour, so we will be closing the festival and marking this huge moment in both of our histories with the mother of all send offs. We are so very happy to finally bring the Rocket Man to Worthy Farm.”

Other artists rumoured to be headlining on the previous days include Arctic Monkeys, Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Guns N’ Roses, Dua Lipa, The 1975 and Bruce Springsteen. No other artists have been confirmed yet.

Standard tickets for the festival sold out in 61 minutes last month after going on sale at 9am. This followed the coach tickets completely selling out in just 22 minutes a week before.

Eavis recently defended the decision to raise the ticket prices for next year’s event, citing escalating costs and the event’s ongoing recovery from Covid-19.
