Cornell, who spent seven years as CEO of ATG Entertainment, succeeds Daniel Lamarre who has served as Cirque du Soleil’s interim CEO since April this year. Lamarre, who led Cirque for nearly 20 years up until 2021, will return to his role as executive vice-chairman focusing on business development for Cirque du Soleil globally.
Cornell’s other previous roles include senior leadership positions at Moët Hennessy USA, Sotheby’s Europe, and Krug Champagne.
Cirque du Soleil said its board of directors appointed Cornell due to his proven ability to lead creative organisations at scale, his track record of delivering strong financial performance, and his deep understanding of audience experience and brand development.
