Max SteventonThe London Borough of Bexley has secured £100,000 in funding from Arts Council England’s National Lottery Project Grants to deliver a new light-themed arts festival, Night Visions.
The programme, which will run from October into the winter, will bring together local arts and culture partners to present a series of events across the borough centred on the theme of light. While the full programme is yet to be announced, mmersive lantern light experience Alice and the Queen’s Beasts will take plave at Hall Place in November as part of the festival.
The project is being run n partnership with Bexley Culture Network, a network of organisations whose aim it is to improve the local area through the arts. It includes local colleges such as Bird College and Rose Bruford College and heritage sites including Hall Place and Lesnes Abbey Woods.
Bexley’s cabinet member for place shaping Cafer Munur said the funding will take arts and culture in Bexley to the next level: “We expect that by working together through this project, our local partners and the Council will be able to cement Bexley’s reputation as a place where creativity flourishes and is woven into the fabric of local life. We will also make sure there are some brilliant nights out for local residents and visitors.”
Arts Council England London area director Michelle Walker said, “Night Visions is a bold and imaginative celebration of local talent, bringing light, connection and joy to people across the borough. It reflects the exciting and ambitious cultural work already underway in Bexley, and we look forward to seeing it illuminated this winter – and to the lasting impact this programme will have on artists, audiences and the wider community.”
