Since its inception in 2022, the ABBA Voyage show series has generated more than £2 billion for the UK economy, according to research from cultural consultancy Sound Diplomacy.

The research found that for every £1 spent on the ABBA Voyage event, a further £5.70 is gained for the broader economy.

The economic impact of the virtual show residency, staged at ABBA Arena in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, was felt most strongly in London. The research found that the city’s economy has gained £1.51bn from concertgoers, who spent an average of £224 per day. It was found that local businesses around the East London venue have benefitted significantly. Visitors have spent £348.5 million across Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Newham and Waltham Forest since the demountable venue opened.

The economic impact in London prompted the city’s mayor, Sadiq Khan, to describe ABBA Voyage as “an absolute sensation.”

ABBA Arena, built by ES Global, also was recognised by A Greener Future (AGF) this week for its sustainability efforts, with AGF giving it ‘improver’ status.

ABBA Voyage will continue into next year with tickets available through to June 2026.
