Max SteventonBrompton Technology’s Tessera LED video processors were used for the Australian and New Zealand editions of the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo performances
The shows were staged at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium from 12–15 February and Auckland’s Eden Park from 19–21 February.
The production, titled The Heroes Who Made Us, featured more than 1,100 performers. The LED system included a Tessera SX40 4K LED Processor and Tessera XD 10G data distribution system which were deployed by Creative Technology Australia & New Zealand.
Brompton said the LED configuration was selected based on equipment availability, panel weight, integrated wind bracing and modular design, allowing on-site servicing. Each installation was completed within two days.
The production required in-screen imaging with genlock across the system and low latency. The Tessera SX40 processor provided this functionality, along with OSCA and DynaCal features for colour consistency across different LED panel types. The system operated without reported failures during rehearsals and performances, including periods of rainfall.
The performances included participants from Norway, Japan, Tonga and Australia, alongside pipes and drums, military bands, the Top Secret Drum Corps and cultural dance groups. The shows were scheduled as part of the Tattoo’s 75th-anniversary programme.
