Max SteventonAlexandra Palace (cap. 10,250) has been awarded Platinum Status on the Live Events Access Charter by Attitude is Everything (AIE).
The multi-facility North London venue is only the third venue to achieve the top level of recognition from the live music event accessibility charity.
Alexandra Palace was assessed against 641 criteria over six years. During this time, the venue has made physical, policy and service changes. Among other initiatives, its wheelchair and mobility scooter hire, step-free access throughout the building and 1,200 blue badge parking spaces contributed to the award.
Alexandra Palace is also working with Haringey Council and Transport for London to improve access at Alexandra Palace Station.
In addition to its new platinum status, Alexandra Palace was named a leading accessible venue by the Research Institute of Disabled Consumers and won the Inclusive Customer Experience award at the Business Disability Forum Awards.
