The UK Crowd Management Association (UKCMA) has appointed Daniel Blackwood, founder and managing director of ResponSec, as vice chair.

The organisation said that with more than 20 years of frontline experience, Blackwood has delivered crowd management and security operations across major venues including London Stadium, Brentford FC and Twickenham Stadium, along with large-scale events with promoters and producers such as LS Events, Krankbrother, Brockwell Summer Series and IMG.

UKCMA said his appointment comes at a time when the industry continues to evolve around safety, workforce pressures and rising expectations on event delivery. As vice chair, Blackwood will be focused on supporting frontline event staff, strengthening welfare standards, and contributing to initiatives including the No Guard Alone project that addresses mental health support for security professionals.

“Having spent most of my career on the frontline, this appointment means a great deal,” said Blackwood. “I’ve seen first-hand how much the industry has evolved, and how important it is that the people delivering safety and security on the ground are represented in the conversations shaping its future.”
