Max SteventonSuperstruct Entertainment is expanding its partnership with mental wellbeing platform OpenUp to provide support services for artists performing across its festival portfolio this summer.
Under the initiative, artists will be able to access certified psychologists and lifestyle experts through OpenUp’s digital platform. The service will offer confidential support on issues including performance anxiety, burnout and other challenges associated with professional touring and live performance.
The programme builds on Superstruct’s existing partnership with OpenUp, which currently provides wellbeing support to employees across the business. The artist-focused service will be introduced through an initial pilot programme during the summer festival season.
The announcement comes as research from the first UK Musicians’ Census, published by Help Musicians and the Musicians’ Union, found that 30% of professional musicians reported poor mental wellbeing.
Superstruct Entertainment CEO Alex Mahon said, “Festivals are ultimately about people. They create connection, community and shared experiences that matter enormously to audiences, and none of that happens without artists.
“Through this pilot, artists performing at our events will have direct, confidential access to professional support, whether they are dealing with performance pressure, exhaustion or the wider demands of life on the road.
