Live music industry veteran John Probyn, who in 2012 won a lifetime achievement honour at the UK Festival Awards, has joined Solotech as head of business development in Europe overseeing its Live Products division.

Probyn, who spent nearly 14 years at Live Nation – latterly as COO –, will be responsible for the business development of the audiovisual and entertainment technology company’s touring activities in Europe.

His live music career began in the late ’80s, when he created and produced the Party in the Park series of music events for radio stations throughout the UK. At Live Nation he was involved in festivals including Download, Wireless, Hard Rock Calling, Creamfields, Electric Daisy Carnival, Global Gathering and Oxegen.

Probyn said, “I’ve worked with Solotech UK brands Capital Sound, Wigwam and SSE Audio for many years and they have always been an important part of what I have achieved. Their global vision for the future in terms of growth and development excites me and I relish the challenge of helping them to achieve their ambitions.”

Solotech president live productions US & UK Mickey Curbishley said, “With an outstanding track record in music festival, touring and events, Probyn will be an amazing addition to our team. He has such a broad live production background and vast experience, he will undoubtedly play a crucial role in supporting Solotech’s continued growth in Europe.”
