Access All AreasRadiohead has set a new record for the highest single-show attendance at London’s The O2 arena.
The previous record was set by Metallica, who played to 22,211 at the AEG Europe-owned arena in 2017 with an in-the-round show.
AEG said that Radiohead’s 21, 22, 24 and 25 November in-the-round shows saw more than 22,200 fans in attendance per show, with each night breaking the previous night’s record and the total attendance for the four shows surpassing 90,000.
Despite concerns about ticket fraud and sky high re-sale prices on platforms on secondary ticketing platforms such as Viagogo, AEG said 100% of the show ticketing was managed by its AXS platform, allowing for ethically capped resale by severely limiting unauthorised secondary marketing activity: “The collaborative process between the artist team, agent, promoter, venue and AXS, led to a ticket purchase flow which ensured tickets got in the hands of real fans, and meant that over 90,000 attendees experiencing the band’s unique return after a seven-year pause.”
