Start-up event Milifest has been cancelled due to an ‘insurmountable legal issue’.

Organisers announced that they have been forced to cancel the festival, despite healthy ticket sales.

The statement, put up yesterday (20 May), read: “It is with deep sadness that we regret to inform everyone that we have been forced to cancel August’s Milifest 2015 festival. Refunds will be available to all customers at the point of purchase.

“The team has put everything into organising and promoting the festival, and despite healthy ticket sales, we have had to cancel it due to an unexpected and insurmountable legal issue. Over the past months, we have worked tirelessly to deliver Milifest, but we find ourselves in the position that we are no longer able to do so as a result of this legal issue. We do not take this decision lightly.

The organisers added that they remain convinced that the event is something truly unique and exciting in the crowded UK festival sector: “We are truly proud of what we have achieved so far. To that end, we will be back with Milifest 2016.”

Ticketholders can claim a full refund through the festival’s approved ticket seller, Ticketline.
